i have hitachi as well, and am not about to give it out...

the way i got it to work on installing was taking the bootdisk from the
latest snap, and it worked fine...

still at home i have this most weird error with another hitachi, and
there i am running -current (not _too_ current since i havent dared
to "catch up" in a month or something coz of the unstability i've heard
exists...

(just wondering, i am planning to get back to current -current this
weekend, i assume i have to do serious twiddling before i get it to
compile? anyway, off topic)

what's the "thing" in the hitachi cdrom that makes it "less?" atapi?
