I also had problems installing from a atapi cdrom.  My problem was a
cheap 2X cdrom.  My solution was to buy a new cdrom (they're fairly
inexpensive now).  I bought a Sony CDU311 8X EIDE cdrom (purchased
10/14/96 for $105.00 + Uncle Sam) and was able to install FBSD 2.1.5
from the Walnut Creek CDROM.  Another solution is to call the tech
support line at 510-603-1234 (I think the hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Pacific time, but don't quote me on that).
