: After experience with Cnews, I can make a few suggestions:
:
: 1) Whatever you can do to widen the disk channel do it. Going to SCSI-2 from
: SCSI -1, Going to Wide SCSI from Fast, going to a PCI SCSI card from an ISA,
: going to multiple SCSI cards from a single card, etc etc.

I've got a VLB SCSI card.Naturally,if I get a 6x86 motherboard & CPU I'll get
a PCI card, and if I add more disks I'll usee another controller.

: 2) make sure you have compiled with dbz, not dbm or ndbm and
: friends.
:
: 3) Run ps in it's various incantations and make sure your not paging during
: all activities of the system, if so add ram.

Will have to check these.

: 4) you can sometimes batch stuff, for example do your expiring during the
: slowest time of the day, etc.

Expiring is set to start at 2:52 AM...but it tends to go on and on and on,
and to miss stuff.
