Hi,

I'm using a generic sound card on a Compaq Presario (924 CDS). According
to what Linux told me (I _used_ to run Linux), I have an opl2/opl3 card
(Yamaha FM, etc.).

I've read the handbook about sound (the little bit there was). I have
installed the snd-util & snd-data packages for Linux, and included the opl
at isa? 0x388 conflicts section in my kernel config file. When I recompile
the kernel, I Yamaha device shows up, but the irq drq are missing (this
makes sense because there is no irq listed in the kernel config file).

My question is this: where should I go from here? cat /dev/sndstat says
that the kernel is not configured for device. Should I put the irq (which
I believe is 5 -> I'll check m$dos before proceeding stupidly) in my kernel
config file? Is there a program that will test for my soundcard and return
it's type and irq?

Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Mail OR news is fine.

Thanks.

Nate
