Hello!
I've a problem at home with my NeXTStation: I've changed the internal hd
(was broken, SCSI error) with a new one, a Seagate ST32151N having 2 GB.
My problem is that I cannot find the way to format it. It is defined as SCSI 1.
Using the ROM Monitor I've setted to boot from floppy disk. I have a bootable
floppy and all starts ok. Calling "/usr/etc/disk /dev/rsd0a" I see the new hd,
and ">disk label" is ok, but if I try "disk> init" I receive the message:

The device is mounted as a filesystem and can't be initialized.

Asking /etc/mount for a list of mounted devices, I see /dev/rsd0a mounted on
/private/tmp/hd, but this is false (i.e.: the /private/tmp/ directory is void).
Calling "/etc/umount /private/tmp/hd" fails, and also "/etc/umount -a" doesn't
change anything. Also note the the /etc/fstab file contains only one line:

    /dev/fd0a / 4.3 rw,noquota,noauto 0 1

so the /dev/rsd0a should not be mounted. Nevertheless, it is reconized during
the boot process on the floppy, don't know why.
Where is the problem? Many, many thank!

PLEASE reply me with email at: unter@mecasoft.ch
Note that the NeXTStation runs with NeXTSTEP 3.2, Unix BSD 4.3 compatible.

Be well,
Stefano
