Greetings,

I'm having some trouble installing FreeBSD 2.1.5. I purchased the
Walnut Creek CDROM from a local computer store. I followed the
instructions from the view.exe file on the cd. I tried using the
install.bat to install from my DOS partition. This caused my system to
reboot and start the boot image. Well, the boot image rebooted my
system before loading the kernel. I then tried creating the boot image
on a floppy (still using the view.exe program). I rebooted my system.
After the probing correctly identified my hard drive a few more lines
flashed by me a warp 9.0 and then the screen cleared and displayed a
solid white non-flashing curser in the lower left corner. At the same
time the HDD (hard drive) light remained lit. The instructions warned
that the probing could take up to 3 minutes or more, so I left the
system alone for ten minutes. When I returned there was no change. I
attempted to reboot using ctrl-alt-delete. This would not function so I
had to reset the system.

I thought maybe the install program might have done something funny, so
I used rawrite.exe to make another bootdisk (on a different floppy).
This ended with the same result.

Here's my hardware:

CPU: Intel Pentium 60
Motherboard: Intel Hendrix (AKA Premiere/PCI ATLX Baby-AT)
EIDE controller (built in the MB): CMD PC10640
Video (also built in the MB): Cirrus Logic CL-GD5434 w/1 meg video RAM
Hard Drive: Wesern Digital AC21600H 1.6 gig IDE
HD geometry: 3148 cylinders 16 heads 63 SPT
floppies: 1 combo drive (1.44 & 1.2 in the same unit)
BIOS: AMI BIOS 1.00.02.BLO (plug-n-play bios)
RAM: 32meg 60NS
Modem: Supra Express 28.8I PnP
Mouse: Logitech, generic (MS compatible)
CDROM: Dolphin 8001 2X ATAPI cdrom setup as Slave on the primary IDE
cable (ISO9660 compliant)
OS's: Winbloze95 and Linux 1.2.13 (from the Slackware 3.0 cdrrom)

The CDROM works under Linux using the generic EIDE with ATAPI support.

The 1.6 gig is partitioned as follows:

1 primary DOS partition ~475meg
1 extented DOS partition containing 2 subpartitions (my D & E drives)
~525meg
1 Linux swap partition 16meg
1 Linux native partition using the rest of the drive.

I was going use the space allocated to Linux to install FBSD.

Any suggetsions on what to try next to get FBSD running?

Please email and post your responses. Thanks in advance.
