Mark,

  You will need to download from a freebsd mirror site the source to the
kernel for 2.1.5.  This is in files named ssys.??.  Get each of these and
the install.sh from the same directory.  when you have them downloaded
type   sh install.sh sys   after that read the handbook on how to compile
a custom kernel.  

 *HINT*  You will need to uncomment  the line pseudo-device ppp  4
