I am a rookie to the Unix/clone OS environment. I recently purchased
and installed a copy of Slackware 3.0 cdrom w/Linux 1.2.13 on my machine
which is also running/using Winbloze95. I'm currently in that stage of
life where I'm starting to really dislike that little company up in the
State of Washington with that greedy little nerd as a CEO. I would
really like to remove his co's OS from my machine as soon as possible
(and forever).

On my most recent trip to the local computer store I discovered a copy
of FreeBSD 2.1.5 (the August'96 Walnut Creek cdrom release) on the
software shelf. After posting a few questions on the
comp.os.linux.setup newsgroup, some people recommended that I drop the
Slackware release.

Can someone convince me if I should switch from Linux to FreeBSD. Are
there any major advantages to switching? Are there any major
disadvantages to converting?

Will Netscape for Linux also work on FreeBSD or will I need to ftp
another copy from Netscape?

Please email responses.

Thanks in advance for any comments
