It is probably more a matter of disk geometry than of the controller. You
should change the 1522 to get more performance but it should work with it.
Is the drive entirely dedicated to FreeBSD or is there a DOS partition on
it ? If it is a dedicated disk, boot on a DOS floppy and use the same
geometry inside sysinstall.
