OK, a while back I inquired about a missing lib file in xemacs. Jordan
told me it was a screwup in the make of the version on the 2.1.5 CD, and
to download it from the ftp site. Did that (from packages-current, and
later again from packages-2.1.5).

Now, I can't even get the sucker to install! Getting tons of error
messages about "such-and-such file doesn't really exist". I can't figure
it. I'm about 99.99% sure I got a good download both times. It unpacked
OK and everything.

Oh, I also saw a message about a bad packing list. What's really strange
is that, on multiple attempts to install, I get different behavior during
the process. Sometimes the endless non-existent file messages. Other
times, something about a file the pkg manager is trying to delete not
existing.

Weird.

Could somebody *please* help me figure out what's going on here? I'd
*really* like to get this thing up and running.

Thank you!
