fyi,
FreeBSD doesn't work on some thinkpads, you need a special boot disk
which is a complicated and undocumented process requiring 600M of free
space on a freebsd system, UGH!! Its interesting to note that
Linux installed no problem (network installed over PCMCIA card), and 
Linux also supports the PP Zip drive. If you do get FreeBSD installed,
X should work.
