I have been using linux for 2 years. now I switched to freebsd, 2.1.5
walnut creek cdrom august 1996. everything works, I am amazed with the
performance of freebsd and my experience from linux and sunos at work
has been very helpfull.

but a lamers question ;: I see that bsd uses the ppp script and chat
to connect the tun0 device to an isp. I have been very comfortable
with linux : I could dial with minicom, quit-but-no-hangup and run a
ppp-on script which then started the pppd daemon. I never used chat in
linux [and now I regret it].

Now the problem is : it seems i cannot use the chat correctly since my
provider is actually a BBS and one must pass a lot of ansi screens and
other shit* stuff before the ppp interface starts. with minicom/pppd
in linux it was quite easy. can the ppp script in bsd be configured
like this? do I miss the obvious?

on a second account I have with some other provider the login sequece
goes like this :
connection is made
user presses carriage return
isp says: Username:
user enters username
ips says: password:
user enters password
the ppp starts.

how do I make this a login sequence with chat? I am very confused.
Freebsd without a ppp connection for me is like fish without
water.....

please cc: to sergios@prometheus.hol.gr if possible....
