: Well, I don't know.... Is it an X only program? The ytalk I used was on
: a Sun and allowed multiple users to talk simultaneously by splitting the
: terminal screen into multiple parts rather than the standard two
: supplied by talk. Everything sounds identical in the man page as the
: one I used in a standard shell....

Ytalk operates both in text and X modes, depending onthe DISPLAY env as the
man page says. The version ditributed with FreeBSD, I have used only in text
mode, but I do have X installed, so it's prolly reading the X libraries.
installing those libraries (and then messing with ldconfig) should take care
of the problem..

: If you wouldn't mind, I'd like to try it with the library just for the
: heck of it. (Mainly cuz I'm stubborn and I love my ytalk!!) If it's a
: bother then please don't worry about it.
if you can't get it, drop me some mail in my mailbox and I can make those lis
available to you. I missed your original post, so I'm not sure what rev of BSD
you;re running - the libraries would be the ones that dstrib with 2.1.
