Depending on how new your ThinkPad is, you may not need a new boot disk.
Did you try using the stock boot disk to see if it work?  If not, then you'll
need to build a custom boot floppy which takes about 600MB of disk, which
is why I didn't build a custom floppy for 2.1.5.  I don't have that much
space available anymore. :(
