Subject: pppd process won't die when modem hangs up

I have a dialup server running FreeBSD 2.1-stable and kernel ppp.

I am having the following problem on the server side:

Sometimes the pppd process will keep running even though the modem on the
server has hung up on the dialed-in user. Is there some ppp setting for
making sure that if the modem disconnects the pppd process should then go
away?

Thanks in advance,

Kevin Swanson
