Save a copy of /etc, create the boot & fixit floppies and boot the first.
There's an upgrade option that makes an attempt to merge /etc.... some
of it you'll have to do manually.

Of course, if you've made alteratons to /usr/src or /usr/share etc. you'll
have to save them too !
