Subject: Stuck Sockets on 2.2-960801-SNAP?

I'm running 2.2-960801-SNAP on a large news server, and I'm running into
some unusual behaviour. Basically, I see that sometimes I can post news,
and it posts almost immediately, other times it will wait forever, then
time out.

I notice on my "netstat" output that there are some 50 or so "ESTABLISHED"
sessions, mostly coming from sites that feed me news. The weird thing is
that these sites appear multiple times (to my nntp port), though I know
that they only have a single session at any one time, and in fact, most of
them (at the time I run netstat) aren't even connected.

Is there a chance that sockets are getting "stuck" in the "ESTABLISHED"
mode on this SNAP release? Does anyone have suggestions about what might
be going on here?

Thanks.
