The vx driver is known to be of hmmmm poor quality.  It has been an
error to include it in 2.1.5 (this only happened since it was already
announced):

Ported the 3Com 3c590/3c595 driver from -current to -stable (for 2.1.5).
Done against my better judgement, but at least we won't be sued for false
advertising. Sigh.
