Hi All,

I'm having some grief trying to install my new IDE CDROM.

I'll first discuss the symptoms, and then detail my configuration
in hopes that someone can see where I've goofed up ...

Any/all help will be greatly appreciated. Email replies to
atrens@bnr.ca ( or atrens@nortel.ca ).

Thanks in advance,

Andrew.
( as always my opinions are my own, not my employer's. )

--- Symptoms
---

* Can't use cdcontrol ( or any other tool ) to open/close drive or
* play music tracks. Here's some output...

(/sys/i386/conf)# cdcontrol -f /dev/wcd0c
Compact Disc Control utility, version 2.0
Type `?' for command list

cdcontrol> debug on
cdcontrol> status
No current status info available
No media catalog info available
No volume level info available
cdcontrol> close
cdcontrol: Input/output error
cdcontrol> info
getting toc header: Input/output error
cdcontrol: Input/output error
cdcontrol> eject
cdcontrol: Input/output error
cdcontrol> close
cdcontrol: Input/output error
cdcontrol> reset
cdcontrol: Input/output error
cdcontrol> stop
cdcontrol: Input/output error
cdcontrol> play
cdcontrol: Input/output error
cdcontrol> quit

* When I try to mount a filesystem ( yes I know its a music CD )
* here's the error I get..

(/sys/i386/conf)# mount -t cd9660 /dev/wcd0a /mnt
cd9660: /dev/wcd0a: Input/output error

* I would have expected a filesystem-level error not a basic i/o
* error!

--- Enough said about that, here's my configuration to date:
---

* Drive is MASTER on my second IDE controller, and is jumpered
* and cabled appropriately.

* Kernel config is as follows:
