You've been editing /etc/sysconfig havn't you :) Put the equals sign
after the line that just says "ifconfig_tun0". This line is meant
to set an environment variable, not run a program !

: starting routing daemons: routedrouted: router/udp: unknown service

: starting network daemons: portmap syslog: syslog/udp: unknown service
: inetd.

Playing with /etc/services too ?

: Why can't sysconfig find ifconfig_tun0??
: the device tun0 is there in /dev
: What are the routing daemon errors and the network daemon errors??

It shouldn't be able to, doesn't matter here, problems w/ /etc/services
(or maybe inetd.conf?).

: Also when I try to start X windows, I get error messages:

: _X11TranSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno=2

: _XSERVTransSocketCreateListener: failed to bind listener

: _XSERVTransSocketINETCreateListener:  ...SocketCreateListener() failed

: _XSERVTransMakeALLCOTSServerListeners: faild to create listener for tcp

: Fatal server error:
: Failed to establish all listening sockets
: giving up
: xinit: Interupted server call (errno 4): unable to connect to X server
: xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error

/etc/services ?
