Hello,

I've setup a BSD system both as an NIS client and server. I've setup a
Linux system and either way I cannot get user password authentication.

I believe that the underlying problem is the the BSD crypt is
broken. I've tried to setup Yellow pages both ways between the BSD and
Linux platforms and am unable to get password authentication to work there
either.
I have successfully been able to get NIS paswording working in the
past between Linux, DEC OSF Alpha, Ultrix RISC, and SGI platforms. This
can only lead me to believe that BSD crypt implementation is either broken
or incompatable with everyone else.
