Check out Paul Vixie's guide on the BSDI page (I think there are 2 guides now).

I assume that you have enough bandwidth to support the vhosts.  General
consensus is that the ASUS boards are wonderful :)

SCSI definitely...  Buslogic has better support from BSDI (ie.  I believe that 
they have wide support), but I haven't had problems with 2.1 and the 2940U
(NOT _wide_).

Go ECC memory while memory is cheap... get a board which supports it.

CPU = pentium (133+) or p6

I kind of like the HP Vectra XU, it has built in Adaptec 7880 Ultra SCSI
plus ECC memory (of course, you gotta toss the 100VG card!!!)...
