I am assuming that by second IDE you mean that there is support for 4
drives by your machine?  If so, On a PCI board I have two IDE hard
drives(WD Caviar 1.2 & Quantum LPS 120) on the primary interface and the
Cd-Rom(Panasonic Atapi 4x) as a SLAVE on the secondary.  There is no
master on the secondary.  This works fine for me.
