Hmm, I downloaded top 3.4beta and it dumped immediately after startup.
I recompiled it with "-static" on the ld line, and lo and behold, it
worked.....:(  I'm *pretty* sure that there was nothing wrong with my
libs (original system, make world produced the static & shared libs).

It was on 2.2-960323-SNAP - Now figure that out !  I've no problems
with the CPU% though :)
