I've checked through the archives for this news group and the
mailing lists found on www.freebsd.org, but I can't find any
recent discussions of my question.

What Pentium Pro motherboards are recommended for running FreeBSD?

The past discussions I found mainly focused on problems with memory
bandwidth and P6 availability. Have the problems been fixed in newer
chipsets?

What about SMP support? I've been following the little bits posted
here and in the other FreeBSD mailing lists about the SMP support
being worked on. While it sounds like it isn't ready for production
use yet, I would like to maybe use it in the future. Can anyone
working on the FreeBSD SMP project comment on motherboards that are
supported?

Our PC hardware person (who loves to spend other people's money) is
pushing Supermicro motherboards. Any comments on Supermicro? He
specifically mentioned the Super P6DNE dual processor board.
