Only FreeBSD-current (ie 2.2) supports ext2fs support (and the Linux
emulation if im not mistaken). To enable it you would have to

(pause to check files)

recompile the FreeBSD kernel with the EXT2FS and COMPAT_LINUX options
defined. The you would (presumably - never got around to testing this) do a
mount -t ext2 /dev/blah /mount-point from FreeBSD.

Again, to the extent of my knowledge, only FreeBSD-current has ext2 or
linux support. If you are installing from a CD, then my suggestion is to
get a working system, sup the -current sources, and then rebuild the world.

Try grepping the FreeBSD mailing-list archives at www.freebsd.org and/or
submitting questions to those same mailing lists -- freebsd-questions and
freebsd-current come to mind as particularily relevant ones.

Also, there is rumored to be support for mounting BSD UFS partitions from
Linux. Havent got it to work myself.
