I've just installed freebsd 2.1.5, and have run into a freaky problem:
The hardware probe will only detect my com1: port correctly. I've got
a "generic" IDE i/o card which is set up to control com1 and 2 (to use
the dos parlance ;), and a Zoom 28.8kbps modem set up to run on com4.

I went into -c on boot and disabled com2 + 3 (since they're not being
used in one case and to get rid of the IRQ conflict in the other) ..
but no good.

My question: is there a way to "force" freebsd to recognize com4? To
date, it has had no problems at all detecting com1 + the mouse hooked
up to it. Due to the fact that the generic card is a piece of junk I
can't move the modem off of com4...and all of this works fine under
MS-Dos.

any suggestions? I currently don't have the $ to get another I/O card
to try...I'm tempted to think that is the problem somehow . . .

*shrug*
Thanks . . .
