Hello,

I have a 486DX4 system set up with FreeBSD 2.1 to act as a router to the
Internet for a LAN of 5 - 10 workstations. The connection is thru a 33.6
modem.

Anyway, everything seems to work okay except the machine crashes with the
following messages:

/kernel: Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode
/kernel: fault virtual address = 0x4c10008
/kernel: fault code = supervisor read, page not present
/kernel: panic....

I have never had to deal with a problem like this before (I have another
FreeBSD system doing the same thing with no problems although with only 1
or 2 other workstations on the LAN)

The main question I have is whether the above messages indicate a hardware
or software problem?

Thanks!

Bill Fahey
