This is fixed in NetBSD-current, and should be part of the forthcoming
NetBSD-1.2.  Meanwhile, you can either backport the code from -current, or
you can pick up the file:

  ftp://ftp.unit.no/pub/NetBSD/local-patches/NetBSD-1.0/ld.diff

You'll probably have to doctor it a bit, since the diff is against
NetBSD-1.0, and tries to mend *two* bugs.  One of these is fixed already in
NetBSD-1.1.
