Hi!

We release the alpha test version of "BootAsia" boot.flp for FreeBSD
2.1.5-RELEASE. This boot.flp displays a L10N menu before the
menuInitial menu. This L10N menu can select your favourite language
(currently, from English, Japanese [EUC-Japan], and Tranditional
Chinese [Big5-TW]) you want to use in FreeBSD install.

This floppy contains Japanese and Chinese fonts within ONE 1.44MB
floppy (yes, we use a tricky :-) compression method for these
fonts. The BDF fonts that the display routine that this floppy uses
are 1.1MB for Japanese and 1.3MB for traditional Chinese. I've
shrinked them into 19KB and 15KB), and it does not require any special
localized hardware to display these oriental languages. It uses
generic VGA graphic monitor to display these multibyte characters.

This work is based on experimental Japanese boot.flp of 2.1.5-RELEASE
(floppiese/boot-jp.flp). It has been fixed many bugs compared to
original boot-jp.flp.

We have more spare space in 1.44MB floppy, and I think this space is
enough to contain one or two more oriental languages. I'm planning to
incorporate Korean (KS C) and Simplified Chinese (GB) sysinstall in
this floppy. We need more Chinese and Korean volunteers for
translation. If you can join our project, please e-mail to me.
