Thanks Chris. But my problem is still there. I tried two oterh ethernet
boards after I sent the previous message. These include a SMC Ultra and
a 3C509. Both of them can be correctly recognized at boot time. But
after I configure the interface, I still can't ping anybody. I think I
should be able to ping hosts on the local ether net after I finish the
"ifconfig" command, right? The error message is: "sendto: Host is down".
The packets are not even sent out since a neighbour running tcpdump
can't see them. Did I do something drastically wrong?

Actually what I need is just a netbsd source tree. Can I somehow obtain
it without installation?
