First order of business: keep your lines shorter (<75 characters per 
line). Long lines are *really* hard to read.

Next: are you using iijppp or pppd? They work differently.

Finally: read the Handbook on both versions, the sample files in 
/etc/ppp, and the man page on pppd. There's a bunch of info there.
