Hello,

I'm running FreeBSD 2.1.5 and am concerned because the
following errors appear each day when the daily report
is run:

Aug 3 10:30:01 machine su: /etc/pwd.db: Permission denied
Aug 4 09:00:03 machine uustat: /etc/pwd.db: Permission denied
Aug 5 09:00:01 machine uustat: /etc/pwd.db: Permission denied

When someone with bash as their shell logs in, the following
error messages appear:
Aug 5 09:03:02 machine login: login from machine2 as bob
Aug 5 16:03:04 machine -bash: /etc/pwd.db: Permission denied

And finally, finger is not happy:
Aug 5 16:03:06 machine finger: /etc/pwd.db: Permission denied
Aug 5 16:03:42 machine finger: /etc/pwd.db: Permission denied

I don't know the cause of these error messages. I believe however,
that I may inadventantly partially installed Kerberos during the
system install (I don't what Kerberos).

Does anybody know the cause and solution of these errors?

Thanks
Dave
