My system is AOS BSD 4.3 running ibm.pc.rt. Frequently, INETD will hang
up (immediately after reboot or a SIGHUP to inetd process) with the
following symptons:

  (1) Post a message: pmap-set: Cannot register service RPC: Timed Out
  (2) finger/telnet/ftp servers were not responding
  (3) finger/telnet/ftp clients were not affected
  (4) telnet back to itself also was affected

When it freed up (if ever, I had to send it "Are You There Inactivity
Poll" from telnet client), hard disk started usual disk access noise.

  THANKS FOR ANY TIPS!!!!
