Yes, using amd for that purpose has the advantage that it only mounts
media that someone wants to access.

The downside is that it either flogs itself to death trying to unmount
it every few seconds, or keeps it mounted much longer than necessary,
or that you have to resort to manually "unmount" it (time-out it, rather.)
