I must have removed something important from my kernel
configuration. But for the life of me, I cannot find out what it is from
diff'ing the last working config file and the current one.

seeing the diff would be helpful --- I didn't see anything obvious
which was missing...

Btw. the diff CAN be misleading if you didn't do the proper
incarnations of "make depend" or even "make clean" before deciding
that a configuration worked/didn't work.

If you add or remove any devices, you should always do a make depend
to make sure the dependancies are right, especially if you are
manipulating the sources. Btw. "make depend netbsd" does NOT work. You
MUST do "make depend; make" to use the new .depend file.

As soon as you add or remove any options, the only save thing --- if
you don't know exactly what you are doing --- is to make clean.

I suggest that you try "make clean; make" first on your current
configuration. If this one does not work, try "config; make clean; make
depend; make" on your last working configuration. You might discover
that it wasn't working, just didn't get fully recompiled in a
changed-by-option section.
