Daring to challenge the will of the almighty Leviam00se, Victor Aker
(bryanm@north.island.net) had the courage to say:

Never having used amanda, I don't know if this is a problem with the
distribution or a mind-o on your part, but the immediate problem here is
that you're using the WRONG BLOODY SLASHES! This is UNIX, not MS-DOG:
the directory separator is a forward slash like Elvis intended it to
be, not a backslash. Try fixing this path so that it uses the correct
directory separator character, then try again.
