Sorry, i've tried it, and it remains unreliable. :(

When it works, it's rather fast, and it looks good for things like
ftp.  (Btw., without Mike's 0x8000 hack, i can see the effect of your
watchdog code.  It's terribly slow then, about one burst each 2
seconds.)  However, it occasionally hangs for NFS.  Sometimes it
works, sometimes it simply times out.  I cannot boot my diskless
scratch box off the 3c590 in the server, while it works well off the
3c503.

Guess i have to see to get the technical specs.  D*mned, they require
me to send'em a fax for this.  I wonder why they've got a Web
server...  (they don't even bother to answer mail sent via their
offered Web request form).
