If I already posted this reply, I apologize for duplication. My ISP (Erol's) 
has been "upgrading" their news server system, with the result that 
everything came unsynced. I've cleared out my news.rc cache and have been 
going back through all the posts to update my system again.

Anyway, just above the screen saver selector line in /etc/sysconfig, you'll 
find a line specifying blanking time. You have to set this to something 
other than "NO."
