Stable development targets.  With a stable target and reasonable
development tools the apps just sort of happen, usually
beginning a year or two after the target stabilizes.

I only know of ncurses and, well, ncurses.  I hear that Lesstif
is close, so who knows.  Java might be an option if the JavaVM
wasn't being troublesome.

Meanwhile . . .
