I see this discussion took place months ago, but if anyone's still
listening:  I, too, had the same problem, and MODE32 fixed it for me too,
so that I could get to the single user prompt.  However, I ran into
another glitch: the system would freeze if the display filled up and it
would have had to clear the screen or scroll up or whatever it tries to
do.  Which happens pretty quickly, with all the bootup information filling
most of the screen.  Did you also have this problem, Toni?  Have you a
fix?  Thanks!  -jb
