I've been having some interesting problems getting my $29 2400 baud
internal modem to work correctly. I can tip with no problems, and I've
got UUCP running. Unfortunately, when I try to get a file of
more than a couple kilobytes using UUCP, I start to get errors and retries,
and it eventually gives up. This is even more evident when I use
zmodem. After receiving around 3K, I start getting all sorts of errors,
and performance just deteriorates from there. Eventually, it seems like
I'm getting one or two error packets for every packet that gets through.

I've noticed the same behavior using an external 2400 bps modem (connected
via a 25-pin straight-through cable). I'm running with a number of the
patches in, including the RB_LEN patch. I tried using the latest cgd
driver, but it didn't seem to help [although I didn't recompile tip,
so perhaps I didn't get all the advantages of the changes to termios.h].
I've seen this behavior pretty consistantly with different kernels.

Am I the only one with this problem? Did I miss an early patch which would
have made everything work? Or are we all waiting for some magic new driver?
I really like to get this fixed up, so I can get a news feed, etc.

Thanks,
Kevin
