Yes, there does need to be a FAQ. The excuse that it would be
quickly outdated is not a very good one, considering that most
every FAQ created is just as quickly outdated on these fast moving OS's.
A six month old FAQ is better than No FAQ. ( imho )

Perhaps a better solution would be thus.

( Posted to both Linux and FreeBSD groups. )

These questions are directed ONLY at people who have actually used
BOTH operating systems, preferably in excess of one year.
( if you have never used Linux, or FreeBSD, or have very limited
experiance with one, please refrain from your opine. )

What are the major strong points, in your opinion, of each OS?
What are the major weak points of each?
What is the difference in setup, admin, and file system structure?
What are the benefits and detriments of both OS,s?

Before anyone starts yabbering about trying to start a flame war...

Please remember that both Operating Systems are nothing more
than tools to accomplish a task, they are not religions, political
systems, or any such things.

Anyone who cannot discuss such things rationally and unemotionally
should perhaps consider professional help in obtaining a life. :-)

Certainly we can come up with a core of answers that people who have
actually used both extensivley can contribute to. This would be the
basis of a good FAQ, which would save some bandwidth in the long run.
