That's a kindergarten-like argumentation.

(I don't entirely like John's kind of argumentation, because his irony
could be misinterpreted as arrogance, but if i had to chose, i
wouldn't pick Linus' way either.)

Linus is as failable as John and everybody else.  Both are humans,
with all their strongths and weakenesses.
