You need to reread it more carefully, John. Linus criticised your _view_
as being biased, he didn't criticise you. You were the one that started
criticising the person, by accusing Linus of being arrogant. I hope you
can see the difference, because it's quite critical to avoiding flame
wars on the net.

I think you should accept that Linux has beaten everyone fair and square
on a benchmark that isn't new, and that wasn't invented to prove a Linux
point. Larry McVoy invented his latency benchmarks because he thinks
latency is an undervalued performance metric in several fields of
computer design, including network performance. Your comments, initally
completely discounting the importance of latency seem to prove his
point. If you think there is some other parameter that should be given
more weight, then do the same as he did: Release a portable benchmark
program that tests what you think is important and start collecting
figures for various OS/hardware combinations. Until you do that, your
comments will just look like sour grapes.
