After wiping out Linux on my HD to make room for FreeBSD, I was slightly
disappointed when it refused to install on my system. Perhaps some BSD
gurus can help me. I've looked in all the documentation so far and I
can't see any reference to the folowing problem:

System:
P100, Triton chip set, 24 Meg RAM, Mach64 Vid card, NE2000 comp. net card
BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v4.50PG

Drives:
Primary Master: 327MB Seagate (DOS partition)
Primary Slave: 1260MB Maxtor (eagerly awaiting FreeBSD)
Secondary Master: 2000MB Maxtor (WinNT)
Secondary Slave: Sony ATAPI CDROM

Walnut Creek FreeBSD Version 2.2 (snapshot 960323)

The Problem:
I made a boot floppy, using both the standard and ATAPI boot floppy images,
but neither works. I get to the initial kernal prompt, it pauses, then
continues to boot.. it then clears the screen and my monitor goes into
sleep mode. After that the computer freezes and I have to do a hard reset.

I have tried to do many things... I tried the "-c" boot option to disable
the detection of everything but my hard drives, I tried disabling the
secondary IDE interface from BIOS, I tried copying all the FreeBSD install
files to my DOS partition to install from there. They all result in the
same thing.

Please somebody help me! Right now I am considering going back to Linux
but I would really like to give FreeBSD a try.

Thank you..
