Sorry for the plug here, i don't know whether you can do it with BSDi.

However, should you fail, you can do it with FreeBSD-current.  (Sorry,
the next release 2.1.5 will support CD-R's, too, but the HP won't work
there since it claims to be a CD-ROM.)

Perhaps that's ``the minor evil'' to you compared to Linux. :-))
