You don't use the (), just fdformat...I would advise consulting the
man pages...quite helpful

w00-h00, time for the man pages again :-) 'man chmod'
Making a directory is 'mkdir newdir' downloading, well, use
ftp <host> or ncftp <host>

Short list of commands and DOS counterparts
Unix    DOS

mkdir   md
rmdir   rd
cp      copy
mv      move or rename
rm      del / erase
ls      dir
rm -r   deltree (removing a dir with stuff in it)

That should get you going....

man pages...again...if you can get on the web, http://www.freebsd.org
has an online handbook, a FAQ, and the man pages online....
