Actually, it is that simple if you have internal scsi disks and
this is more of an issue of the external wide scsi connector than
a kernel issue.

Just make sure that you have a properly configured kernel.

Here is my section for my 2940 UW.
controller      pci0
controller      ahc0 
controller      scbus0

device          sd0
device          od0

device          st0

device          cd0     #Only need one of these, the code dynamically 

Now -- the other issue are disks in order to fully take advantage
of the 2940 UW you need wide scsi devices. The 2940uw will still
perform however your thruput will be limited by your scsi 2 devices.
