In compiling make world on stable. I got the following progs that
could not link unless I explicitly added /usr/lib/libc.a. Is this
suppose to happen? What file should I correct to get these to 
link (there were some _symbols not found without the static lib.
A check of my libc.so said they were defined, but somehow they could
not be resolved.
